SM6LR
By sa6ham
Yesterday I had browsed for interesting nets and associations in my area and rediscovered SM6LR. It’s a ham radio club belonging to Lidköping, a town some 30km north of my QTH.
The club house is at JO68pk37, to the south of Lidköping, so it’s a bit closer to me.
On a whim I decided to visit them last night. To my delight I found a group of people who were very welcoming and friendly. They were also very knowledgeable and experienced. I was invited to join them on their bi-weekly gatherings in the club house - so I am now a paying member of SM6LR.
We got to talking about antennas - as you do - and I told them about my wanting an end fed for 80m and that I only had a couple of 9:1 baluns for the purpose. I was promised a table of lengths that was particularly good, where two lenghts popped out as being good for all bands. I was also offered some DL-1000, old Swedish military comms cable, but I ended up declining as I dreaded having to split the twin lead copper-and-steel wire.
I have now gotten said table of lengths as promised, and published it on the Unun 1:9 Wire Lengths page.
