Is there some law that says when you get back into ham radio you need to buy a new radio? Well, I followed that law and got everyone’s apparent favorite the Yaesu FT-891

This beauty got me back to the hobby after a couple of years of lost interest. DMR is a great entry way for hams who otherwise get stuck on the technical side, planning antennas instead of making QSOs. It got me past my mic fright anyway.

This is a wonderful machine, even though it’s very limiting not to get on the UHF band.

I should really get an upgrade.
